Getting started

  1. Make sure your store uses the new customer accounts (Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts). Shopify lets customers spend store credit at checkout only when they're signed in with them. The app home tells you if your store still uses the classic accounts.
  2. Customers → find a customer → Issue credit: amount, currency (if you sell in several), reason, an optional note and expiry date, and whether Shopify emails the customer.
  3. Optional: on the app home, Add to product page / Add to cart page opens the theme editor with the Store credit balance block ready to place. Click Save. No theme code is changed.
  4. Pro and Plus: Cashback → Create cashback rule.

How store credit works

  • The app uses Shopify's native store credit. Balances live on the customer's Shopify account and stay there if you uninstall the app.
  • Store credit is kept per currency. Customers spend the balance in the currency they check out in; Shopify uses the soonest-expiring credit first.
  • Expiry dates end at midnight in your store's time zone, the same as credit issued from Shopify admin.
  • Shopify keeps a customer's store credit under the equivalent of 15,000 USD per account; a credit that would go over is refused with a clear message.
  • Every credit and debit is in Activity with Shopify's transaction ID and the balance after it. If Shopify doesn't answer, the entry shows "Checking" while the app looks it up in Shopify's records; it's never sent twice. Failed entries weren't applied and can be retried.

Cashback (Pro and Plus)

  • Percent of the order or a fixed amount, with an optional minimum spend and a most-per-order cap (in your store currency).
  • Counted on the order's items after every discount. Gift cards, shipping, tips and products you exclude never count. Guest orders earn nothing.
  • The credit is issued in the currency the customer paid in, after the waiting period you choose (60 days at most).
  • Refunds during the waiting period lower the credit (or cancel it). After it's issued, a refund takes the difference back if the rule says so, up to what the customer still has.
  • The rule is fixed on the order when it's paid: editing a rule later doesn't change cashback already promised.
  • Cashback tiers (Plus): up to 10 rules, each for customers with certain tags; the first matching rule from the top is used.
  • Cashback needs Shopify's order webhooks, which Shopify enables for an app once its access to order data is approved. Until then the app home says so; manual credits, bulk credits and refunds to store credit work in the meantime.

Bulk credit (Pro and Plus)

  • Choose everyone with a customer tag, a customer segment, or a CSV file (a column "email" or "customer id", optionally "amount").
  • The app counts the customers first; nothing is sent until you confirm the number. Each customer is credited once per run.
  • Up to 500 customers per run on Pro and 10,000 on Plus. Plus can schedule a run and repeat it every month.

Refund to store credit

  • Find the order, choose items (and shipping), click Calculate: Shopify works out the refund. Confirm to refund it as store credit; Shopify records it on the order.
  • Items aren't restocked by this page; use Shopify's returns if you need that. Pro: add a bonus percentage on top.
  • Orders older than 60 days can only be found if Shopify has given the app access to all orders.

Plans

Free: 25 credit actions a month: issue or take back store credit, or refund an order to store credit; Reasons and notes on every credit, optional Shopify email to the customer; Activity ledger with Shopify's transaction ID and balance after each credit; Store credit balance block for your theme; A small "Powered by Mint Store Credit" line under the block.

Pro ($7.99 / month, 7-day free trial): Unlimited credit actions; Cashback on paid orders: percent or fixed, minimum spend, exclusions, waiting period, taken back on refunds; Bulk credit by customer tag, segment or CSV (up to 500 customers per run); Expiry dates on credits, bonus credit on refunds; Reports and CSV export; Cashback line in the balance block, no "Powered by" line.

Plus ($14.99 / month, 7-day free trial): everything in Pro, plus Cashback tiers: up to 10 rules by customer tag (for example VIP 10 %, everyone else 5 %); Scheduled bulk credits and monthly repeating credits; Bulk runs up to 10,000 customers.

A credit action is one credit, debit or refund to store credit made from the app; on Free you get 25 a month (reset on the 1st, UTC). Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page (Plans → Choose a plan / Manage plan) and billed by Shopify. Changing plans never deletes anything.

Privacy

See our privacy policy and security policy. In short: balances live in Shopify; the app keeps a ledger with customer IDs, never names or emails.
